Tropical art by Jenny Glaze - Australian painter lives in tropical north Queensland. Cairns artist Jenny Glaze paints in acrylics, oils and mixed media.

Some of you may be aware that I was the Principal Petitioner on the proposed development of the Cairns Entertainment Precinct.  Although my view was against  CEP, it was important to me to democratically represent both sides and  to seek out the majority viewpoint to ascertain if your opinions had truly been represented. The petitions raised 1200 signatures only 89 signed in favour .  Satisfied, I then embarked upon doing what I could to halt, or at least alter the project.  Along the way I have learnt much about the CEP but also our very divided Council.  I found many reasons why I cannot trust or have any faith in their ability to govern fairly or responsibly. They show an absence of due regard and diligence to their constituents.  I care about the future of our city and the beautiful valley I live in, frankly it is time for change, so here I am.  I know I need to earn your trust. I know that you have heard it all before and been let down.  I hope that my endeavours can help reinstate  your faith and that you can put your trust behind me as your Councillor.

My Other Interests

Art Vogue was created to showcase Jenny’s art works and design concepts. Her interests are diverse, from tour guiding, home décor and now carving sculptures and is constantly evolving in her subject matter and style. Living in Cairns, Tropical North Queensland in superb surrounds is a constant inspiration to her.

The Art

Jenny is constantly evolving in her subject matter and style. The exploration of colour and mixed media is a journey in itself. Oils are her favourite, but can be quite climate dependant in the tropical monsoonal surrounds. This brought about the much used acrylic, ink and mixed media artworks.  Jenny is happy to accept commissions including portraits and painted from sittings at her home studio or other source of reference supplied by clients. Much of her art is produced to harmonise with the clients’ décor.


Among the exhibition works is a series of ink and acrylic portraits and stunning palette knifed floral murals. Some of the artwork demonstrates lovely texture works and also a take on the “La Sistina Madonna”. This has an ‘aboriginal substitution’ and adorable in its own right.
Jenny has challenged herself to produce for the first time a carved wooden sculpture, which will be included in this exhibition.

The Home

Jenny has designed and built, if not renovated over a dozen homes. This is purely an extension of her artwork. If not showing her art, her current home in itself is a showcase, including several furniture re-vamps.
Many of the interior features were designed by Jenny, such as the door carvings, including deep etched glass works and balustrade. These were beautifully handcrafted to her design in Indonesia.
The current trend is collecting deco style furniture, which she used for her own displays. Home visits are not a problem, this enables Jenny to fine tune the right fabric, colour schemes to suit the décor. More information is found here.

Tour Guiding

Jenny had a 25 year background as Cabin Manager with one of Australia’s Airlines. This has naturally given her an extensive knowledge of Australia, as well as overseas. This training and experience has stood in good stead and nothing is too much trouble for her.

From fully escourted tours, either for the individual or group bookings, the itinerary is  tailored to the needs of the most discerning clients.
